We had a storm move in on us while hiking the 7 miles around Josephine Lake this weekend, up in Many Glaciers….
I have to admit I was a bit stressed about being alone with the crew around water but Sawyer, Tori, and Maddie all took turns helping me watch the little ones. We ended up having a wonderful time and got to cool off a bit.
Poor Tori though she ended up having a hitch-hiker attack to her leg. I’m pretty sure the people cleeeaaar across the lake could hear her scream! Luckily it was just a little one …
Other than that small drama we all survived and even stopped in for fudge-cicles on the way home.
This summer we spent a fun filled weekend at Holland Lake for the Braaten Family Reunion. It was a great weekend getting caught up with everyone and seeing all the new additions. One of the highlights was when a couple of the more daring type decided to try out a rope swing that swung out over Holland Lake at heights of up to 20 ft (this is a very debatable question around here btw) and drop in at just the right moment. You had to let go at the peak of the swing to make sure you would drop into the deeper part of the lake, not too soon or…well… lets not go there! And you definitely could not ride the rope back to the hillside or you would crash into the giant tree that held the rope. The first one is of Sawyer going off…

You can imagine the mother’s heart inside of me when Mark and I walked up to the swing just in time to see our 7 year old playing Tarzan off this rope! There wasn’t even time to talk some motherly sense into him, his feet were off the ground and he was in full motion. They had been there the night before with their uncle and few other of the Braaten clan, and later that night when Garrett told me about going off the rope swing I didn’t think too much of it…until we walked up on him doing this…

This isn’t the best angle to fully appreciate the height of this swing, but these pictures put it in a little better perspective…

Too much fun! Some other time I’ll have to share more pictures.
