Brrrr….we were met full force with fall weather on our camping trip.
Our frosty mornings in the Tetons generally started with hot chocolate, coffee and the campfire going…

The berries are out in full force, these are just some of the fruits we spotted on our last hike…
Plus wild onions!
And some interesting leaves…
We spotted these guys while on vacation, at a stop in Oregon. They were pretty amusing to watch while the scritched and scratched through the leaves looking for little seeds. I believe they are Spotted Towhee Pipilo maculatus (please correct me if I am wrong 🙂 ). Thanks for the help on ID’ing the little hummingbird last week!

The little white fruits of the Snowberry bush is mildly toxic, especially to children and pets. Sorry no taste-testing these guys!
Perfectly white.
The day was nearly over when I was taking these pictures and made the berries almost seem luminescent.
Their hollow stems used to be used as whistles, but the stems are mildly toxic as well.

These were growing under some Cottonwoods and the leaf litter was quite pretty too…
Frosty leaves on the ground.
The cold, crisp mountain air combined with the sweet smell of autumn leaves is one of my favorites. I think I could stand there for several hours and just inhale deeply…

This little doe was pretending to be invisible behind this bush. It’s simply amazing how still they can stand and how well they blend in with the background!
