A beautiful, misty, autumn lake shore…
Lake McDonald…
Maple leaves in just about every color from our visit to Olympic National Park…
The temperatures have dropped and we have had a few killing freezes already in northwest Montana. A few flowers are still doing well though….
Most of the leaves here are still green but some of the shrubs are starting to change….
The little snowflakes piled up to be a couple inches of snow yesterday…

The vibrant colors of fall were all around us until this past weekend when we had a severe weather alert. While we didn’t receive any snow, we did have high winds that pretty much disrobed the trees of their glorious colors. 😦 I’m afraid the long winter months are just around the corner. I always look forward to winter and snow, I do really enjoy the cool, crisp mornings and warm afternoons of autumn. The colors are a bonus!
Aspen leaves with a hint of red…
The bright red of Euonymus…

Raking them up into a neat pile…
And….well, what else should you do with them?

I have to sneak in here the last of the flowers…
They were starting in Tetons and Yellowstone a couple of weeks ago…
Back at home…
Sunday we took a little drive to pick up some lambs. It was a perfect fall day! The colors were vivid and bright. (Which made me want to stop at every corner and take pictures! We were on mission though with time restraints, so we just drove!) On the way home though, the sun was starting to set on the lake and my husband made several stops so I could snap some pictures. Love that guy! One of the stops held an extra special bonus! I jumped out of the pickup and walked down a little trail to get to the shore and I could hear water running so I went a bit further up the shore to find this beautiful sight! The end of a little stream pouring into Flathead lake and some wonderful fall colors…
We are enjoying the vibrant colors of fall this year! For some reason it seems to be especially spectacular…
Aspen leaves are my absolute favorite!
