When the Sun Hits the Tetons…

When the sun hits those peaks…oh my heart sings!  We had a wonderful two and a half week vacation camping in Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.  IMG_1495

Life has been busy and full!  Trying to get caught up on real life, farm work, and going through pictures from the trip.  🙂

An Afternoon Whale Watching…

Every time we have visited the coast we have wanted to go out on the ocean and do some whale watching. Usually we are in quite a rush and can’t quite fit it in but this time we had a couple of quiet days in Oceanside, CA.  So we were pleasantly surprised to find a local business that held daily tours at very reasonable rate so we decided to give it a try…

The Icefields Parkway In Banff & Jasper National Park

Earlier this fall my husband and I had the opportunity to stay in Jasper, Alberta in Jasper National Park.  We had to be home in Kalispell, MT the next day.  We had a whirlwind day with lots of stops, picture taking and rushing.  Definitely not ideal but it was so neat to see the glacial icefields and various other sights along the way.  Today I’ll share with you all the one stop at the Icefields, that my husband in particular was very excited to see…

Rugged mountain peaks…IMG_1127-Edit IMG_1131

More glacial striations!  It’s unimaginable the amount of pressure and force of the ice to make these marks  on these rocks, let alone that they carved these valley out…IMG_1132-Edit

Glacial snow covered in pebbles that were carried in the l layers of snow that use to be above the snow/ice but have now melted.  It’s quite a thing to think about the water flowing besides the ice and wonder when it was in liquid form last?IMG_1179-Edit

The beautiful scenery was breathtaking! IMG_1220-Edit

Vacation…

We are back after a 15 day vacation.  My husband had a business meeting in Seattle so we (the whole family plus Grammy ~ 10 people in all) spent a couple of days hanging around there and then we crossed on the ferry and started our Highway 101 adventure!  We toured through parts of Olympic National Park and then followed the coast down to San Francisco and then cut across California, Nevada and Idaho to make it back to Bozeman, MT just in time for my husband to have another business meeting then headed home.  This is one of the thousands of pictures I took on our little trip and was taken in Olympic National Park….
