Bee-utiful…
The bees have been loving the sunflowers that are now in full bloom!
And they’re loving the last of the echinacea.

Remember before…Â
 This took about 10 days!Â
It’s soooo good! And was easy to do.Â
We plan on doing a bit more in a couple of weeks.
Sticky Situation…
It always amazes me how this  ↑Â

         turns into this.  ↑
  Â
Not long after Mark brought in a few pieces of honey filled comb did he separate the two. Â
First he used a potato masher and thoroughly mashed the two together. You can see the waxy comb stuck to the masher and floating in the bowl. Â
Next he divided the honey and comb into two quart jars, one wide mouth and the other a regular (narrow) mouthed jar. Â
Then he placed some new clean screen material over the jars and screwed on a canning ring to hold it all together.Â
Then he inverted the ‘mashed’ filled jars over another wide mouth jar and taped them together with Gorilla Tape.Â
We decided we liked the normal jar inverted over a wide mouth jar better as it let us maneuver the ‘mash’ filled jar around a bit to different angles which helped the honey release a bit easier.Â

I’ll show the finished product soon!
Bee-utiful ~ Enjoying the fruit …
Â
We have been experiencing some unseasonably warm weather around here lately, right around  ~50 degrees! March definitely came in like a lamb, now if it would just go out like one. This weekend we had a whirlwind trip to Bozeman for State Shoot in which both Sawyer and Tori participated in air pistol and bow. When we got back Saturday night all the snow (ice)  had magically disappeared and most of the mud had dried up! (Wonderful news to a mommy of 7 suffering from cabin fever!) After church on Sunday, Mark decided to investigate his bee hive and see if we had any survivors. He suited all up and about an hour later returned happily to report that there were lots of bees and brought back a lovely gift…
It smells absolutely heavenly and tastes even better~so when we wake up to mornings like this…
We are able to be a bit more patient in waiting for Spring.
Â
22 eggs today!
The chickens must be enjoying the warmer weather too.
Honeybees and Sunflowers….
With the cooler weather and the arrival of fall there are less and less flowers for the honeybees to gather from. The sunflowers have been blooming in full force making it a favorite gathering place for the bees.
