Yesterday after church we headed to Helena to deliver sheep to two different families. It is always a fun and anxious time when a family receives their new animals and also for us knowing they’re going to good homes. Mark and I had a beautiful, quite drive as all the kids ended up staying at Grammy and Papa’s house. We had gorgeous fall weather and enjoyed viewing the scenery with its changing colors. It was nice just to be able to chit-chat and hang out together for the day. The sheep stayed put in the back of the pick up making for an uneventful trip….thankfully! ;0)
The first family we met up with we had to move sheep from one pick up to the other in a parking lot…we were a bit afraid of having someone escape and having to chase sheep around a busy road and parking lot! But they were all nicely mannered and didn’t give us a bit of trouble. I’m so excited for this family as it is their first experience with Icelandics and I hope they truly enjoy it. The second family we met the husband at their beautiful homestead that they are currently building. He was most generous to give us a great tour! Their cabin is settled in a very picturesqe area and is completely off grid. (So cool!) They already had a nice starter flock of Icelandics and a gorgeous LGD and were just adding one more to the group. It was so neat visiting with these families which just added to our great trip.
McDonald Pass has quite a little blaze going on it right now, it sounds as though it is starting to be contained…here is an article on the fire here. It had traffic slowed down to 35 mph, but we were just happy the whole pass wasn’t shut down! It also provided quite a sunset and start to our drive home.
We made it home a bit late last night and after we pick up our tired kiddos we were quite ready to hit the hay. Hope you all had a great weekend.
