The birthday bash continues with Teigen turning 3! I am sorry to suffer you through yet another birth story, but I find as I get older and the years pass with the addition of each new precious soul that I am forgetting some of the precious details of the most important days of my life. I hope to preserve these here…

A sweet smile...

My pregnancy with Teigen was very stressful to say the least. My pregnancy before ended with me giving birth 13 weeks early to a beautiful baby Hayden boy. When we found out that we were once again pregnant I was definitely concerned that something bad would once again happen. I had to go in weekly to the doctors office for progesterone shots that were suppose to help prevent pre-term labor problems.

I had weekly ultrasounds to determine cervical length, fluid amount and eventually weekly non stress tests. I ended up visiting the OB department quite regularly, just to make sure everything was ok. One morning I remember waking up at about 36 weeks and as I was laying there I felt no movement from the baby. I laid there for a while longer, switched sides, got up moved around and still nothing. Finally I woke Mark up in tears and had him rush me to hospital and the whole ride up the baby never moved. I just knew the worst had happened…it took the nurses several minutes to find his heart rate and when they found it I just bawled! I was so ready to be done. My poor husband and doctor!

I was so hoping to have a VBAC with Teigen, but at that point I was just ready to be done and hold a healthy little boy. My doctor had mercy on me and we planned to go ahead with a C-Section if his lungs were mature enough. We had the amnio which had to be done twice as my fluid was so low it made it difficult to find a pocket of fluid with enough amniotic fluid in it. I ended up hiding my face under a pillow so I couldn’t see what was going on, squeezing my poor husbands hand. He watched the whole thing be done and threw in a couple of qick whitted comments and questions, lightening mt mood. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be, no real sensation in my skin and just a quick tearing/sharp sensation when it went through the uterus. When the results came back I was very dissapointed, his lung maturity came back as very immature! His number came in way below even the grey area of being somewhat mature.

We then had to wait two more weeks until my 38thweek. The doctor allowed us to schedule our section on a Saturday morning, the day before Father’s Day and has been the only day that we have picked for a birth day! And in celebration of Father’s Day, Teigen was given the middle name Markus after his daddy which has suited him perfectly!

My OB joked with me throughout my pregnancy that when she first saw this little trouble maker she was going to give him a spanking for being so naughty! She’s such a crack up!

When he was born Rick Jackson’s Country Hall of Fame was playing in the operating room and we were listening to Roy Rodgers sing “Happy Trails”! Teigen never did get his birthday spanking from Dr. Klein.

When he was born he let out a nice loud scream to let us know his lungs where working perfectly. He weighed 6lbs. 4 oz. and was 18 1/4 inches long.

A Wild Hair...

Teigen has in deed lived up to his name sake, he is fiestyand very strong willed. Challenging in *many* ways but much more a blessing. He keeps us hopping and guessing all the time and rewards with his sweet smiles and funny antics.
