Only one more left!

Well it’s official…. we only have one more ewe left to lamb!  Today Ragna had a nice set of lambs, one moorit ewe lamb and one black ram lamb.  Of course as seems to be our luck,  the weather was once again blowing and throwing slush down upon us…

Ragna’s first lamb, the moorit ewe came out with no problems…

She weighed in at 6lbs 10 oz.  and is so cute, but aren’t they all!  Then we waited and waited and waited for her brother to make his appearance.  When we were finally able to see him it wasn’t his front legs…or his back legs… just his muzzle and tongue!  Bummer! So of course the first thing I did was to call Mark and see where he was at, and it just so happened he was leaving work and would be going by the house.  But he wouldn’t be their for a while…so today was a first for me, my first official dig in to try and fish out legs.   Hopefully you can feel the excitement…cause I was definitely excited…can you feel it yet?  Me neither!  Anyway it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, the ewe on the other hand…I don’t think she appreciated me elbow deep into her.  After a few long seconds of feeling around and not finding anything, I had to take a deep breath, close my eyes and…be patient.  I then finally found one leg and pulled it up to where it needed to be and then I was able to find the other leg and move it too.  Then we let her go to push on her own…a few more seconds one leg presented with the head and we were able to pull him the rest of the way out.  He was a trooper and breathed right away and mom finished the clean up and filled his tank.  He was a bit bigger at 7lbs. 14oz. and of course very cute too!
